IMRC 2010 on Global Competitiveness through Human Resource Management

IMRC 2010IIMB Management Review (IMR) organized a 3-day conference on 'Global Competitiveness through Human Resource Management' from July 22, 2010 to July 24, 2010 at the IIMB Campus. The conference was inaugurated on July 22 by Professor Pankaj Chandra, IIMB Director. Professor Vasanthi Srinivasan from the HR & OB area at IIMB introduced the chief guest. The keynote address was delivered by the chief guest Dr Sripada Chandrasekhar, Vice President & Head HR, India and South Asia, IBM India.

 

In his address, Dr Chandrasekhar shared his perspectives on the Evolution of HR in India; the Globalization of Organisational HR; People Management Challenges of Global Companies; Research Insights for sound HR practice; Issues around Professor-Practitioner collaborations and Hot topics for research in HR. Professor V Ravi Anshuman, Chairperson & Chief Editor of IIMB Management Review gave the vote of thanks.

 

The key tracks of IMRC 2010:

  • 1. The global environment or the macro societal/institutional environment
  • 2. Leadership and organizational performance
  • 3. Global Talent Management
  • 4. Emerging Trends in HR practices

 

The Conference combined Panel Discussions along with Paper Presentations by academicians, researchers and industry practitioners. Day 2 of the Conference started with a Panel Discussion on "Global Environment and Global Leadership, which was anchored by Professor N M Agrawal from the OB & HR area at IIMB. Invited panelists Abhijit Bhaduri, Chief Learning Officer, Wipro; Rajshekar Krishnan, Head - Leadership Development India -South Asia and Executive Development GMU, IBM India; Anirudh Mathuria, Director & Head, Symbian System Software, Bangalore; Ramesh Shankar, Senior Vice President & Country HR Manager, ABB India participated in the discussions.

 

Later in the day, another Panel Discussion was held on "Leadership & Organizational Performance", anchored by Professor Sourav Mukherji of IIMB. Pallab Bandyopadhyay, Director - Human Resources , Citrix Systems; Deepak Martin, Senior Director, Human Resources, South East Asia, Flextronics; Sudheesh Venkatesh, Head, Human Resources, Tesco Hindustan Service Centre participated in the discussions.

 

On Day 3 of the Conference a Panel Discussion was held on "Global Talent Management", anchored by Professor Vasanthi Srinivasan of the OB & HR area at IIMB. N Balachandar, Chief Human Resources Officer, Strides Arcolab; Sujaya Banerjee, Chief Learning Officer, Essar Group; and C Balaji of AVP-Symphony University, Bangalore participated in the discussions.
