CloudCamp is an unConference where early adopters of Cloud Computing technologies exchange ideas. CloudCamp Bangalore - the first such unConference in India was held at NSRCEL, IIM Bangalore on March 29, 2009. It was attended by more than 300 people with representation from Cloud Computing end-users, IT professionals, vendors, academia and student community. The event was supported by ACM Bangalore chapter (http://acmbangalore.org) and hosted by NSRCEL, IIMB.
Dave Nielsen (who has experience of conducting more than 15 CloudCamps worldwide) from Platform D kicked off the event with an introduction to Cloud Computing which was followed by an Intel presentation on an overview of cloud computing. Mr. Nielsen got the audience engaged with the unpanel in which a panel of expert volunteers from the audience who answered questions regarding Cloud Computing raised by the audience. After the lunch break, there were a number of specialized sessions on Cloud Computing such as building a search-engine or a multi-player game using the cloud.
8 K Miles, a company incubated at NSRCEL also took this opportunity to present their company and products to this audience. The event ended with a panel discussion that summarized the information gathered from Cloud Computing and the challenges facing its adoption from a technical and business perspective.
NSRCEL was delighted to host the first-ever CloudCamp in India and be a part of the community of upcoming technologies. With these activities the Centre hopes to not only encourage new thought processes but also hopes that such camps will trigger the community to create new platforms and new and exciting products.
