The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) is a center for developing managerial excellence that prepares managers to take on the challenges of tomorrow. To do so, IIMB nurtures academic talent in the field of management and works closely with the industry and government.

In 1997, we instituted a forum to further encourage an exchange of ideas among students, academics, government and industry-The Forum for Industrial Interaction. We believe that the academia, government and industry must interact closely and learn from each other. The FII organizes regular seminars and talks by inviting eminent people from the industry and the government. With a view to make create an atmosphere of learning, beyond the academic curriculum. The attempt is to make the institute more industry focused and to better prepare potential managers to face contemporary concerns in the corporate world.

The talks, in addition to serving as a great source of learning for the students, also help in brining the institute closer to specific companies. The Forum attempts to help enhance the visibility of the companies on campus as well as of the institute in the industry.

The Forum, on a routine basis organizes

  • Workshops on specific business management issues
  • Panel discussions on contemporary management and technology issues

  • Formal dinners with vary focused group discussions
  • Corporate leadership series
  • IIMB invitation Seminar (IIMBiS)
  • Hard talks-debates on controversial issues
  • Seminars and talks by functional managers and area experts

The FII is committed to helping students of IIM Bangalore leverage on the resources of this institute to discuss, meet and network with people who make a difference, a difference in their won fields, a difference with affects us all and the future of management practices. The FII forms that vital link between the world outside and that within the Institute premise.

S A C. (Student Academic Council)

At IIMB, we tend to believe that the educational experience is very different from anything else that most of us have gone through before. This is primarily because for most of us, it happens to be the terminal point of education before we take on the rest of the world. For this very reason the focus in heavily on learning "skills"-something that can be done best in the flexible environment. That is exactly where the Academic Council (or Acad) comes into the picture. Since students are the stakeholders of education who are affected most by it, the Acad has the responsibility to present the students' point of view in all matters pertaining to academics. The idea is to form the link between the students and the faculty - a links that should be trusted by both. The end objective of course, is to foster a healthy academic atmosphere where the quality of education is always on the rise.

Some of the actual work we do involves working on new electives, scheduling of electives, bidding for electives (an online bidding mechanism is in place to help decide the students who take up any course that has limited availability), arranging for workshops, maintaining Quality Assurance Groups, arranging Guest Faculty, representing the students at appropriate forums etc.

The body consists of five members including one Academic Secretary, all of who are elected along with the other members of the Students Affairs Council. The committee currently comprises Anshuman Maheshwary (Acad Secy), Amit Bhargav, Krishna Rajaram, Manish Agarawal and Amitabh Mall, all the Class of 2001.
