International Immersion

The International Immersion module in the EPGP is designed to give participants insights into the emerging economies such as China, Russia, Brazil, South Africa and some developed countries such as South Korea. The insights include the economic, social and cultural aspects of the identified country.

As the first part of the module, the participants go through a pre-immersion session at IIMB for a week. During pre-immersion, participants get an overview, with relevant knowledge and exposure to the country so that the immersion can be more fruitful. This session also helps participants to decide which area they want to focus on and define the group project. During pre-immersion, industry experts, speakers from Ministry of External Affairs and other experts visit IIMB and address the participants.

The second stage is the international immersion where participants spend two weeks at a foreign university, attending various lectures which expose the participants to economic, social, cultural aspects of that country. It sensitizes the participants as to what it means to 'Do Business' in that country. Another important aspect of the stay is to understand the social and cultural aspects of the country and travel is one of the major ways of experiencing the culture. Participants get to visit historic sites and get first-hand exposure to the country and understand the contemporary situation to how that society has evolved.

The last part of the module is reflection. The participants reflect on their experiences and review their thinking about the country. There might be some myths which have been broken and new perspectives created, which participants then capture in a reflection report. The second part of the reflection is participation in a group project on the subject chosen during pre-immersion week.

Comprehensive Project

One of the distinctive features of the EPGP at IIMB is the Comprehensive Project (CP). During the 5th to 8th terms of the programme the participants are required to work on a comprehensive project related to management problem. The objective of the project is to apply the concepts and methodologies learnt in the programme to real-world management issues and to integrate classroom learning with practical experience.

CP can be done by a group of maximum two participants. This project, done in collaboration with a faculty, necessarily involves examining a live issue in either a company or in an industry.
