3. How does one apply for the programme?

Application for the programme is fully online from 10th July. Visit IIMB website for deadlines and other details.

 

4. When will the interviews be held?

12 & 13th November 2011
19 & 20th November 2011

 

Fee

 

1. I am a Foreign national and what would be the fee for me?

Same as Indian nationals.

 

2. Is there a concessional fee if more than one applicant is sponsored by the same organization?

No

 

3. Is there any application fee while applying?

Yes. Rs.3,000

 

Programme Details

 

1. What is the duration of the programme?

One year.

 

2. When does the programme start and end?

The programme commences on the second week of April and ends in March the following year.

 

3. How many terms are there in the programme?

There are 8 Terms.

 

4. What is the course structure?

  • Classroom Teaching – 14 Core Courses in the First Three Terms and 18 Electives in the Last Four terms
  • Project/Thesis/Dissertation – in Last Four Terms along with elective courses each semester
  • Seminars – in Two Broad Themes –Master Class & Society - One Every 2/3 weeks – throughout the Programme
  • The international component will be in the IV term

 

5. How is this programme different from similar programmes offered by other institutes?

Apart from core and elective courses, there will be a comprehensive project and also a series of seminars on general subjects like History, Philosophy and Science to sensitize the students about the societies and cultures they live and operate in.

 

6. Can I specialize in more than one area?

Yes.

 

7. Can we do this course in Distance mode?

No.

 

8. Is the Foreign Component also optional?

No

 

9. Is it residential?

Yes.

 

10. I am a US citizen now. Do I qualify to apply?

Yes.

12. Is placement provided in this programme?

Yes, the institute will endeavor to provide Career Advancement & placement assistance to all the participants of the programme.

 

Admission Process

 

1. What are the admission criteria?

 

  • Academic Background (graduate in any discipline)
  • Academic Achievement
  • GMAT
  • Proficiency in English (Indian nationals need not take TOEFL. However TOEFL is required of students who have studied in countries where medium of instruction is not English)
  • Quality of Experience
  • Interview
  • Statement of Purpose (No specific format)

2. Is there a separate admission process for sponsored candidates?

No

 

3. Is there any relaxation of admission criteria for PhD holders?

No.

 

4. Is GMAT compulsory for admission?

Yes, GMAT is mandatory. You must mention your GMAT score while applying.

 

5. Is CAT/GRE considered for admission?

No

 

6. What is the average GMAT score?

There is no minimum GMAT score; however GMAT scores are looked at in relation to the applicants pool. Last year's average GMAT score is about 702 and the range is between 640-760

 

7. Do we need to give GMAT scores while applying?

Yes, you will not be able to submit the application without entering your GMAT score.

 

8. When is the interview held?

Interviews will be at Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. Dates will be around 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th November 2011

 

9. Where are the interviews held?

Interviews will be held in Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai

 

10. What about reference letters, can it be sent by email?

No. Your refree will make your reference online. 

 

11. When do I expect to get the final admission offer?

The admission offers would be sent by emails to the successful candidates by 1st December 2011

 

12. What do you mean by “Proficiency in English”? How do you judge it?

Written and verbal skills. This will be judged during interview and GMAT verbal scores.

 

13. Why has the minimum number of years of experience increased from 5 to 7?

The elegibility criteria for admission has been 7 years from the start. It has not been increased.

 

14. By when should I have 7 years of experience? While applying or by course start date?

 By 31st March 2012

 

15. Can work experience be a replacement for GMAT score?

No

 

16. If GMAT score is mandatory, the score should be available by what date? Are you looking at a specific range?

You can apply on the basis of the test center scores, but you should ensure that the official GMAT scores reach us thereafter. Current batch’s average GMAT score is about 702 and the range is between 640- 760

 

17. What is the code for the programme to take the GMAT?

Code for programme while taking GMAT test is Q9H-KK-84.

 

18. How much is the fee?

Tuition fee + International Immersion + Single Accomodation= Rs 20.55 lakhs
Tuition fee + International Immersion + Married Accomodation= Rs 21.50 lakhs

21. When is the last date by which the recommendations should reach IIMB?

Recommendations / references should reach IIMB by 30th Sep 2011. The candidate will be able to submit the application only on receipt of the reference letters from the refrees.  

  

22. Is the link provided by IIM-B an Intranet Link?

The link is not an Intranet Link. It is an Internet Link.

 

23. When I am not able to access the online application, how will I know whether the online application server is down or my network is not allowing access?

Any downtime of the online application server will be scheduled only with prior intimation on the IIMB website.
