  • IIMB to welcome participants of PGPEM Batch 2017 on April 8

    01 April, 2017: IIM Bangalore will host the inauguration of Batch 2017 of the Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management on April 8 (Saturday) at 9:30 am in the auditorium.


    IIMB Director Prof. G. Raghuram and PGPEM Chairperson Prof. Seema Gupta will light the lamp with the chief guest, Ramya TV, Assistant Professor, Strategic Management, IIM Calcutta.


    Ramya is an alumna of IIM Bangalore’s Fellow Programme. Beginning her career in 1997 as a software engineer in Wipro Global R&D, she has more than a decade of work experience in various technical and managerial roles in the IT industry at Wirpo, Cisco India and Sasken Technologies Ltd. Her doctoral thesis focused on the influence of national culture in international business. She teaches courses on Strategic Management, Strategy Execution and Strategic Decision Making in International Business at IIM Calcutta, and is also the Group Coordinator for the Strategic Management Group.


    Her keynote address will be followed by a session on Gender Sensitivity. Prof. Rejie George Pallathitta, faculty at IIMB, will deliver a short address on ‘Ethics at IIMB’. PGPEM Students Affairs Council (SAC) Secretary Ashish Vanarse will give the incoming batch an overview of life as a PGPEM participant. The post lunch session will have a talk on usage of library resources by Dr. Rama Patnaik, Chief Librarian, IIMB. Later in the afternoon, there will be a discussion on how to read and analyze cases. Prof. Ganesh Prabhu, faculty, IIMB, will lead the discussion.

Prof. Chakravarty will speak on ‘Rights and Gender Bias: Evidence from Land Reform in West Bengal’. While land reforms are typically pursued in order to raise productivity and reduce inequality across households, an unintended consequence may be increased within -- household gender inequality. In his talk, Prof. Chakravarty will analyse a tenancy registration programme in West Bengal and its impact on families and society.     17 April 2017, Bengaluru: A talk has been organized as part of the EPGP Seminar Series 2017-18 at IIM Bangalore on April 19, 2017 (Wednesday), at 4 pm. The talk, organized by the EPGP Seminar Committee, is title ‘Experiences of Board room to realities of entrepreneurship’ and will be delivered by Piyush Deogirikar, who runs a start-up in the spiritual space called 'Aadishakti.co'.

    Piyush Deogirikar is a senior fashion and retail professional. An alumnus of IIM Bangalore (EPGP 2010-11), he also is a postgraduate from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). Before setting up Aadishakti.co, he was associated with Mother Earth Retail (Future Group) as acting CEO/COO. Prior to that, he was with Landmark Retail Group, Dubai (parent company of Lifestyle & Max Retail) as the Head of the Department. He also served as Vice President of S Kumars Group of Companies.
